I love helping others, especially beginners, understand how to develop for the web. I remember my fascination with learning how the web works…now, I realize that I sealed my fate as a geek.
I’m a web developer living Phoenix, Arizona. I began desiging/developing websites in 2002, learning web standards from the “orange” Designing With Web Standards and Web Standard Solutions. Learning how to create beautiful XHTML and CSS naturally led to a curiosity of how to create dynamic interactivity and content with JavaScript and PHP.
Off The Clock
I spend my evenings and weekends with my lovely wife and new son. They are amazing! My wife puts up with my many trips to bookstores and Best Buy where she is exposed to mass-geekery on a daily basis. Unfortunately for her, my hobby is also my career =/

Redmonster was originally conceived by my dear friend, the lovely Heidi Claunch. Redmonster is kind of a play on my last name; and I guess I can kinda be a monster at times =). Heidi contributed the lovely monsters that adorn this site. I intend to add to the collection over time.
My blog is focused on helping beginners understand critical concepts that will help them thrive as a web developer. Goredmonster.com is a collection of my ideas, tutorials, and commentary on things related to developing and using the web. My everyday use of PHP, WordPress, CakePHP, and other web-related tools present a great opportunity to help other aspiring developers and students learn the sometimes daunting concepts of developing websites.
